Measurements
Since the beginning of humanity using a system of universal measures it was necessary to carry out trade. From the Egyptians to the French Revolution, it proliferated different measurement systems which were too complex.
They were the French in 1792, which proposed the metro (from the Greek, meaning measure) as a basic unit. Apart from facilitating trade, another advantage this system has is that the decimal multiples of the meter are decimal (previously it was not), which also makes easier arithmetic operations. After a lengthy process, it was implemented for the first General Conference on Weights and Measures held in Paris in 1889. So they were taken to the base quantities: length, mass and time, the following units of measurement: meter, kilogram and the second. Would you be able to discover what sense does each of these units?
There are also other variables widely used in cooking, as the capacity (closely related to the volume) and temperature. Do you know which units are used for each? Can you find more than one unit of measure for them?
